How To Manage Commission Plans in Odoo 17

In industries, customers have the option to either directly purchase products from us or make purchases based on referrals from existing clients. In such scenarios, it becomes essential to establish appropriate commission rates for clients who contribute to sales through referrals. 


Odoo facilitates this process by providing tools to effectively manage commission plans for sales, allowing businesses to fairly compensate clients who bring valuable sales opportunities to the company.


To manage the commission plans in odoo 17 we need to have the module “Resellers Commissions For Subscription” installed, by installing this module we will have a new menu of resellers in the CRM application under which we can manage the commission plans.


1. Configuration to manage commission plans:

Navigate to CRM application > configuration > commission plans

For the sub-menu commission plans we can create new commission plans.

Features:

● Name: under the name section we can give a name for the commission plan.

● Purchase default product: A product “commission” should be a service type, as it is used to create a purchase order for the partner to pay the commission when any customer purchases a product he refers to.


● Company: In the company field we can select any company, in case of a multi-company environment- It would be helpful to manage commission plans for the companies.

● Product category: we can define specific product categories to be applied for the commission plan.

● Product: We can mention multiple products on which the commission plan would be applied.

● Sale order template: we can also define specific sale order templates for the commission plan.

● Pricelist: We can also define a price list in the rule , so for the mentioned pricelist only a commission plan will be applied

● Rate: In the rate we can define percentage for the commission ex.20% we can tick the checkbox cap if we want to define maximum commission in amount ex.5000.


After that we need to define these commission plans at partner levels.

2. Steps to navigate to the partner level:


Go to CRM > configuration > partner level

From here, we can create a new partner level.

Features:

● Level name: we can define specific level names.

● Level weight: In the level weight We can add the chance of assigning a lead to a partner , if we set 0 then no assignment will happen to a partner.

● Sequence: we can add related sequence number for the partner level

● Active: we can activate or deactivate the partner level by using this active toggle button.

● Default commission plan: we can define specific commission plans for this partner level.


3. Now, we need to assign partner levels to the customer.

Navigate to CRM > sales menu > customers.

Under the partner assignment tab we can define a specific partner level in the customer , based on the partner level the commission plan would be auto assigned to the customer.


After that whenever we create a sale order we may select a refer and then the system will auto raise RFQ in the purchase application for the payment based on commission plan.


We can also manage frequency to create a purchase order and the minimum PO amount total by going into CRM > configuration > settings > partner commissions. Where we can manage the frequency and minimum PO amount to create a purchase order.

USE-CASE of Commission plan in Odoo 17

Suppose a client refers a customer to us, and we have already configured the commission for this referring client. Now, when we sell a product to the customer referred by this client, let's explore how we can appropriately allocate the commission to the referrer using the established commission management system.


1. Navigate to CRM application > configuration > commission plans

2. Go to CRM > configuration > partner level

3. Navigate to CRM > sales menu > customers


Let’s create and confirm a sale order for the customer and add a refer by going into sales application > quotation > create and confirm.

Now, validate the delivery and then create an invoice and register the payment.

After that you can see the purchase order for the person that you have mentioned as a “refer” is created for the product “commission” as a payment.

And you can confirm the order and create a bill and proceed.
