A price list serves as a comprehensive record of item prices for both selling and buying purposes. It proves invaluable in managing transactions with varied pricing structures, taking into account factors such as customer distinctions, geographical locations, and diverse currencies. Particularly in situations involving country-specific customers, price lists play a crucial role in facilitating accurate and tailored invoicing and billing processes.


Let’s see how can we Configure a Pricelist and item prices in ERPNext:


● Navigate to stock module > items and pricing > price list

Configure a Price list and item prices in ERPNext

Pricelist name: We can define a name for the pricelist ex. Price List for local customers..


Currency: we can select the currency for the price list ex. INR, USD. So whenever this price list will be applied the prices will be in the defined currency only.


Countries applicable: we can define countries in which the price list will be applied ex..india, united kingdom. Example- If the customer is from India then this price list will be applied.


Selling and buying: These checkboxes can be ticked in case we are going to use this price list for both the selling and buying transactions.


Price not UOM dependent: When this checkbox is marked, the system automatically selects the price based on the quantity of items sold, such as boxes or cartons. If the checkbox is not selected, and the item is sold in boxes, cartons, or similar units, the system will display the price for a single unit instead of the bulk price associated with boxes or cartons.


Disable/enable: Toggle the checkbox to enable or disable it .


Create Item Price in ERPNext:

An item price is a record that contains a specific rate for the items based on a specific price list. To create a new item price:

● do navigate to the stock module > items and pricing > item price

Item code: Item code would be the specific item code that we have defined on the item template.


Item name: Item name would be the name of the item.


UOM: In item prices we can define a unit of measure whatever it would be. For instance if we are selling a product in boxes we can select it as a box and based on the defined UOM the item price would be applied on the transactions.

Packaging unit: A packaging unit can be defined based on the item's packaging type as 1, 2 or number of units we are taking as a 1 package for the item.


Pricelist: can select a created pricelist to link this item with it.


Supplier/Customer and Batch number: if this item would be applied to a specific supplier and customer, we can select the related party and batch number.


Rate: item rate to be applied can be defined.


Validity: we can define specific date valid from and valid upto for the item price to be applied in specific duration.


Lead times: we can define the number of days it would take to reach the item to a specific customer or warehouse.

Use-case:

Let’s take an example as one of the companies is a seller that sells the goods in the local market as well as in international so they want to maintain pricing based on various customers. Let’s see how they can create a price list for the customers.


● Navigate to the stock > items and pricing > price list > create a two price list for local customers and international customers.
